Nascut in Republica Moldova, VALENTIN DONI a inceput cariera de dirijor la conducerea orchestrei de muzica a companiei de stat Teleradio – Moldova. In tara sa natala, Valentin Doni a desfasurat o bogata activitate artistica: a fost dirijor al orchestrei simfonice a Filarmonicii Nationale din Republica Moldova (1991 – 1998), director artistic al Salii cu Orga din Chisinau, dirijor al Orchestrei Nationale de Camera (1997-1999), prim-dirijor al orchestrei simfonice a Filarmonicii Nationale din Republica Moldova (1998 – 2004), director artistic al aceluiasi ansamblu intre 2000 – 2001 si din 2004 pana in prezent, Valentin Doni ocupa functia de dirijor permanent al Filarmonicii „Mihail Jora” – Bacau. Valentin Doni a intreprins turnee in Italia, Spania, Portugalia, Romania, Franta, Austria, Ucraina, Coreea de Sud, insumand peste 300 de concerte.
Valentin Doni, a complex musician, is notably recognized as a conductor, composer and performer. He attended the Institute of Arts “G. Muzicescu” in Chisinau, between 1973 and 1978, in the conducting class of Isai Alterman, and the composition class of Paul Rivilis. In 1990 – 1992, Valentin Doni studied conducting with Maestro Ovidiu Balan, and in 1992 – 1993 he perfected his craft at the National Regional Conservatory in Rueil – Malmaison (France) with Professor Jean – Sebastien Bereau. Valentin Doni also attended advanced training courses at the Academy of Music in Lyon and at the Philharmonic of Lille (France).
Valentin Doni began his career as the conductor of the folk orchestra “Folklore” of “Teleradio – Moldova” (1986 -1989.) Between 1990 and 1992, Valentin Doni was an official of the Republic of Moldova’s Ministry of Culture, within the department for cooperation with the unions of creation(composer’s union, writer’s union, etc.) From 1991 Valentin Doni is a permanent conductor with the National Philharmonic Symphony of the Republic of Moldova, and from 1998 until 2004 he held the position of artistic director and conductor. Valentin Doni has toured with numerous orchestras in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Romania, France, Russia, Bulgaria, Austria, Ukraine, South Korea, with whom he interpreted classical masterpieces as well as premiering many contemporary ones as well. He has accompanied consecrated soloists, such as Dora Schwarzberg, Patricia Kopacinskaia, Michel Bourdoncle, Dang Thai Son, Laur Favre-Kahn, Liana Issakadze, Sandrine Cantoreggi, Mark Zeltser, Constantin Lifshits, Vladimir Viardo, Maria Biesu, Nikolai Petrov… as well as young musicians, and has promoted works by Moldovan composers in festivals such as “Mărţişor” and “Days of Music”
As a double bassist, Valentin Doni collaborated with the “M. Jora ” Philharmonic in Bacau (Romania,) and with the European Symphonic Orchestra in Spain. Valentin Doni evolved as a teacher at the Institute of Arts “G. Muzicesu,” from 1980 until 1988, and the Republican College of music, from 1985 until 1987; both of which were in Chisinau.
