The fateful key
C minor is called the fateful key. Ludwig van Beethoven choose C minor for his Fifth Symphony, setting it’s fateful tone. Also, some of his piano sonatas are set in this tonality, among them the legendary Pathétique and his last sonata, op. 111. Furthermore, the Piano Concerto No. 3 as well as the underrated Chorfantasie are in C minor, as if to prove the melancholy of the key.
