Last performed by Cincinnati Opera in 1980, Beethoven’s only opera will be presented in a “timely and effective” production (Seattle Times). Described as the “true heir to the dramatic soprano repertory” (New York Times), Metropolitan Opera star Christine Goerke will sing the role of Leonora. Russell Thomas returns to Cincinnati Opera to lend his “strong, clarion voiced” (New York Times) tenor to the role of Florestan. “Impressive” (Cincinnati Enquirer) bass Nathan Stark appears as Rocco. Don Pizzaro will be sung by the Grammy Award-winning Nmon Ford.
