The Kennedy Center Concert Hall is part of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts which first opened in 1971. The idea for a performing arts center in Washington D.C. dates all the way back to 1933 when Eleanor Roosevelt came up with the idea but it was not until decades later that it came to fruition. It is now the premiere destination in the Nation’s Capital for performing arts and gives patrons the chance to rub elbows with the movers and shakers of the Beltway scene. The concert hall is just one of the many theaters in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, but it is the largest and therefore hosts all of the biggest events held there.
Kennedy Center Concert Hall is home to the National Symphony who put on some of the best concerts in the world on its stage each year. Additionally, big name musical acts like Norah Jones and Chris Botti perform at Kennedy Center Concert Hall when they come to play a show in Washington, D.C.
