Afisul filmului Eroica
BBC Classical Music si BBC Drama au produs in 2003 filmul “Eroica”, cu un scenariu care exploreaza povestea “Simfoniei a treia” beethoveniene. Nick Dear (autorul scriptului): “Eroica unfolds over just a few hours on 9 June 1804 (in Vienna). It begins with preparations for the rehearsal: the musicians lugging their instruments, the servants preparing the salon, Prince Lobkowitz, his family and guests anticipating a thrilling session, Beethoven’s friends and lovers showing up to give support. And then the bad-tempered maestro begins his rehearsal – the nature of the music is so different that it causes problems both for players and audience – at one point Beethoven has a furious row with the orchestra and is banished to an ante-room. The whole of the symphony will be played through, and then it’s over. End of film.”

O singura zi: 9 iunie 1804. O singura locatie: Palatul vienez al Printului Frank Lobkowitz. O singura tema, concentrata in cuvintele lui Joseph Haydn, compozitorul invitat la repetitia generala/prima auditie a Simfoniei Eroica: „From this day forward, everything [in music] is changed”. Un mare plus: productia reconstituie 100% orchestra premierei (acelasi numar de membri, aceleasi instrumente) – dirijor: Sir John Eliot Gardiner (un soundtrack intrigant, memorabil…!)
